Historic looking random pattern tile floor installation Tampa, Florida
Here's a small foyer project we finished in a old area of Tampa. The
bottom picture is of their old home section with a very old custom
quarry tile floor. The new section they wanted similar colors but with
the new age style. They selected tile and wanted it installed anyway and
gave me a pattern but said just install it in a mish-mosh way, no real
pattern, wherever it fits. They actually wanted 1 1/2" joints and I got
them to use 3/4". Tile was a Cerdomus "Durango" in 8x8, 8x16 & 16x16
and in random colors Ambra, Noce & Gold. They love it! #tile #random #pattern #cerdomus #grout #tampa #ceramictec +Cerdomus Ceramiche

You did a great job on this! That being said, I wonder why this homeowner decided to replace the original floor. It has such character! And you can tell it's handmold, very expensive tile with such rich variation in shape and color. Personally I think it was a real crime to tear that up. It made my heart hurt to see the relatively characterless tile they chose instead. To me they took something exquisite and replaced it with a Walmartesque tile.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post anonymous, but not having any idea of the project your comment was way off. The front foyer of the old home had the old existing tile. They wanted a newer representation of that tile in the remodeled area of the home where the substrate was concrete concrete as shown in the first picture.
